James Edwards

James Edwards is a Whangārei local, born and bred, with deep family roots in the community spanning several generations. Having grown up in Whangārei and attended Whangārei Boys’ High School, James has always known that the North was where he wanted to live and work.

James studied dentistry at the University of Otago and returned home as soon as he could. Becoming a director at Dental North is a long-held goal realised, allowing him to practise dentistry in his hometown, alongside friends and family, and care for the community that shaped him.

James is passionate about his role as a dentist and is known for his warm, friendly approach. Patients often comment on how at ease he makes them feel, valuing his ability to explain treatment clearly and treat every patient with the same care and respect he would offer to family or close friends.

Outside of dentistry, James enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle and has represented New Zealand in triathlon. When he’s not working or training, his favourite place to unwind is Russell in the Bay of Islands.
